Back to the future slot machine

Who didn’t love the classic 1980’s movie ‘Back to the Future’? It wasn’t only a hit with fans, but it scored highly among critics, too, winning a number of prestigious awards. And what’s rare about great movies like this one, the sequels came out just as good. So, that’s where IGT comes in. As a provider known for developing games based on cult movies, it was only a matter of time until they decided to create this slot. First off, the feel of the game is so… eighties! But in a very charming way, with mainly the font giving it away. Other than that, it all looks very futuristic – from that time’s perspective, of course. There are various iconic symbols of the movie you can see across the reels. And for those of you who may have missed out on Back to the Future for some reason, we’ll summarize. It’s about a teenage boy Marty, who befriends the kooky scientist Dr. Emmet Brown. Brown creates a time machine from a DeLorean car and a flux capacitator, which transports Marty thirty years back in time. There, he struggles to get back to his own time, without changing the sequence of events that would eventually lead to his birth and subsequent life as a teen.

The Back to the Future slot game has 3 rows and 5 slots. It has a total of 40 paylines. These aren’t adjustable, though. It also features a rather atypical for its kind random feature wheel. This wheel can award you with various Wilds, multipliers, Scatters and extra credits, so keep your eye on it. As for the symbols on the reels, they’re all about the movie. Marty’s skateboard is there, naturally – can’t miss out on a teenager’s most prized possession. The time travelling automobile is also present, alongside the flux capacitator and the main characters. Michael J. Fox is on the reels, looking a bit confused, as is the wacky scientist. Biff Tannen Lorraine Baine are also symbols of the reels. This game also features exclusive video clips from the movie, which are also bound to make for an interesting experience. Especially for those of us, who were already fans of the movie, this will make for the perfect treat.
There’s a whole number of bonus feature available in this game, and they won’t disappoint. So, we already mentioned there’s a feature wheel. It will appear when you land three or more Scatters anywhere on the reels. It’s called Marty’s Feature Wheel and it will spin horizontally at the top of the screen. At some point it will stop on one of the available bonus features or multipliers. Here’s what they have to offer:

First off, the Wheel Spin. This is a fun, interactive feature, which will probably make you want to do it again once you have. You need to spin the back wheel of the iconic car, with each spin adding to your amount of credits. As car drives off, the amount will start increasing all the faster.

Next up, there’s a feature called Time Flies. Ironic for this game, right? This feature will bring you over to the Hill Valley clock tower. You will need to spin the clock’s dial in order to reveal the multiplier for the freespins that this feature gives you. The amount of freespins you receive is 5 and you have the option of retriggering them. There’s also another bonus feature, which will award you freespins – the Outatime! Bonus. It will also allow you to pick credits and multipliers on the way.

Then there’s the Wild West Train Bonus. Here you will have to select icons from a separate screen full of them. Some of them will reveal fuel logs, which is what you’re after, as they increase the multiplier meter. You can gradually gain a maximum multiplier of x5. Watch out for the End of Track symbol, though, because three of these will end the feature. They will also put in the nice video clip of a train crashing just to make that point.

Last but not least, there’s the Time Circuit Scramble. Your goal here will be to randomly enter a date into the time circuit of the time machine. If it matches with the one that appears on the screen afterwards, you will receive a bonus.

We truly enjoyed this game. The quantity and variety of the bonus features in Back to the Future made for a very engaging and interesting gameplay. It certainly will not bore you, even if you’ve never watched the movies before.
